TDOT Commissioner Nicely: "We simply will not further consider tolling as a funding mechanism for this project nor for a possible extension of the parkway on to I-40 East. Go to the CABOL News Page.

Citizens Against the Beltway Orange aLignment (CABOL) remains opposed to the proposed Knoxville Parkway (Beltway) I-475 Orange Route because it doesn't solve traffic problems along I-40 and only leads to more sprawl, congestion and pollution. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is planning to spend almost a half a billion dollars to achieve a mere 9% reduction in traffic along I-40 through Knoxville. CABOL believes the real purpose of the Beltway is to convert rural lands and open spaces into sprawl.
